Haynesfield is proud to announce our partnership with the Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant program. Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant program is funded by the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation, which has supported thousands of grassroots community and school projects in the communities where Lowe's does business.
We plan to take the courtyard space that is currently underutilized and convert it into an interactive outdoor learning space for our students to enjoy. Elements will include a chalkboard, outdoor seating, fish ponds, edible plants and student artwork. With the current challenges in education, we see this space as an opportune area to excite students about learning, while giving them a variety of ways to reconnect with the world around them. The outdoor classroom will host science experiments, observations of the natural world, as well as the chance for students to become involved in growing their own food.
By giving children a chance to interact with nature, we hope to instill in them a love of the world around them which will in turn encourage a lifelong desire to protect and preserve the resources that they have.
We hope that this project will bring the whole school and community together not only in the construction and installation of the various elements, but with a renewed sense of pride in themselves and each other.
